Patrick currently resides deep in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. He sucks at sports, can't play any musical instruments, and suffers from crippling anxiety. In his spare time, he can be found trying to beat his best friend's score at Ms. Pacman or passed out on the couch after a tiring day of Law & Order: SVU reruns. His favorite things include television, music, and comedy. He dislikes almost everything else, especially the Tori episodes of Saved by the Bell.

Time to unplug the electric chair. On this day, Charles Brooks, Jr., became the first human soul to receive a lethal injection as a form of capital punishment. Brooks received an intravenous of sodium pentathol, which is often used as a “truth serum” in lower doses. Years later, execution authorities would adopt an injection procedure that would administer three separate drugs into the convict’s bloodstream. The first drug, sodium thiopental, would knock the person unconscious, the second, pancuronium bromide, would paralyze their lungs, while the third drug, potassium chloride, would ensure cardiac arrest and death.
