the miseducation of patrick dunn

Bio:

Patrick currently resides deep in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. He sucks at sports, can't play any musical instruments, and suffers from crippling anxiety. In his spare time, he can be found trying to beat his best friend's score at Ms. Pacman or passed out on the couch after a tiring day of Law & Order: SVU reruns. His favorite things include television, music, and comedy. He dislikes almost everything else, especially the Tori episodes of Saved by the Bell.

The thing about early American UFO sightings is that the technology always seemed to be just slightly ahead of what humans were almost capable of. For example, the airship sightings of 1896. Hundreds of eyewitnesses claimed to have seen a slow moving airship floating across northern California skies on a November night in 1896. Eyewitnesses described the ship as being cigar shaped, over 150 feet long, metallic, and hovering at about 1,000 feet. One witness had even described the ship as having side wheels that were being pedaled by two men. Although airships were being developed at the time, there was no documented evidence of any that were capable of taking flight as described by the hundreds of witnesses.

As human technology increased over the years, UFO sightings had evolved with the times. During the Cold War, we had flying saucers, little green men, and government conspiracies. It was fitting for an era that was besieged with grief over nuclear annihilation and Soviet espionage. In more recent times, television series such as Unsolved Mysteries inspired the common sighting story of bright lights in the sky that were often followed by the failure of nearby electronics, alien abductions, and memory loss.

I’ve always held my position that if an extraterrestrial race was going to take over our planet, it probably would have happened by now. If they were truly watching us all these years, why wait until we have flight capability, an advanced military, nuclear arms, and Will Smith on retainer? Also one more thing; if aliens do exist, here’s hoping they all look like that three-titted Martian woman from Total Recall.
